The Hepatitis Zero Africa campaign is a global movement for solidarity and public health. Our goal is to mobilize Rotarians, Rotary clubs, healthcare professionals, and civil society organizations around the world to join efforts to eliminate viral hepatitis across the African continent.
Hepatitis B and C remain major public health challenges in Africa, affecting millions of people and causing hundreds of thousands of deaths every year, mainly due to cirrhosis and liver cancer. The good news is that these diseases can be prevented, diagnosed, and treated.
Through the Hepatitis Zero Africa initiative, we aim to build a global mobilization to expand access to information, diagnosis, and linkage to care, contributing to the World Health Organization’s goal of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
Our strategy is to connect Rotary clubs from around the world in a powerful network of action, supporting African Rotary clubs to organize community awareness campaigns and hepatitis initiatives in their communities.
The Hepatitis Zero Africa campaign will be built on the strength of Rotary’s global network. Clubs from every continent will be able to support initiatives in Africa through partnerships, fundraising, awareness campaigns, and logistical support for community health actions.
This global mobilization will allow local communities to gain access to education and diagnosis initiatives that can save thousands of lives.
Every Rotary club can play an important role in this effort.
We invite Rotarians everywhere to join the Rotary Action
Group for Viral Hepatitis (RAG) and become part Of this
global movement.
